Email Bill Lawson at WebServant@Memphis-UMC.org or phone 270-527-8758 or 270-519-6692.
To enable us to respond in a manner most helpful to you, please indicate the nature of your accessibility problem, the preferred format in which to receive the material, the web address or hyperlink of the requested material, and your contact information.
We are adding features to newly posted pages to move the website towards voluntary compliance with the provisions of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (which is required of Federal, not private websites like ours).
United Methodist Reporter, Memphis Conference Edition
Cassidy Palmer, Academic Training Coordinator Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology Murray State University, has modified the template for the Memphis Conf. Edition of the UM Reporter for full 508 compilance with the following changes, starting with the June 24, 2005 edition:
Added descriptive alt text to all images and logos
Set alt text to “” for all spacer images so the screen reader won’t read those
Added label and ID tags to the Search box to make it accessible
Also, in cross browser compatibility testing I found that the page wasn’t displaying properly at the bottom in Mozilla’s firefox so I took out the attribute that was causing the problem and it now seems to test fine in IE, Netscape and Firefox.
Performed screen reader testing
Conversion to a black and white version of each issue is linked from the color version, also containing the other accessibility features, starting with the June 24, 2005 edition.
Frames
Frames are clearly titled to assist screen readers
All pages in the site are designed for proper viewing without the use of frames.

Adobe also has a plug-in available that will attempt to convert PDF documents to HTML on-the-fly. The converted document will be immediately returned to you in your browser application. See Adobe's web site (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_onlinetools.html) for instructions on how to use these web-based forms.
